Online English-taught Courses during The 2021 University Immersion Program Week Were Completed with Success in SPA, SCU

Recently, the 2021 University Immersion Program (UIP) of Sichuan University came to a successful conclusion. Invited by our school, Prof. Xiaohui Bao from Cambridge University, Prof. Willem Martin de Jong from Erasmus University of Rotterdam, and Prof. Krishna Prasad Paudel from Louisiana State University attended the program from July 5 to July 15 of 2021 and opened online English-taught courses of Behavioural Economics and Housing Decisions, Cross-cultural Management, and Agribusiness Management respectively. These courses enjoyed great popularity among students. A total of more than 100 students from different colleges participated in these English-taught courses offered by our school.

In the class, through applied experiments and field data, Prof. Xiaohui Bao mainly discussed the effects of behavioral biases on housing decisions, including anchoring, reference dependence, loss aversion, mental accounting, endowment effect, herd behaviours, and social comparison; Prof. Willem Martin de Jong showed the differences between Chinese and Western cultures in social settings and communications in cases and emphasized the importance of cross-cultural awareness and respectfulness; Prof. Krishna Prasad Paudel showed the impact of countries' agricultural policies and agricultural technology innovation on the world with the aide of slides and drawing tools.

During the class, students took initiative to think about questions raised by professors while carefully listening, and interacted with professors in live stream with equipment in classrooms. In response to every question raised by students, professors answered them patiently and were quite satisfied with the classroom performance of students.

Through the study of these English-taught courses during the 2021 University Immersion Program Week, students not only have a deeper understanding of the behavioral biases that affect housing decision-making, cross-cultural communication and management, and agricultural economic management while experiencing the class mode of world recognized universities, but also broaden their international horizon and enhance their competitiveness. The online English-taught courses during the 2021 University Immersion Program week were completed with success.
